·         ab 1970 erster Trompetenunterricht bei G. L. Lowe.

·         1976-1979 Studium am Newcastle College of Art in den Fächern Trompete, Klavier, Musiktheorie, Geschichte und Komposition.

·         Erster Auftritt beim Jazz and Heritage Festival der Stadt New Orleans im Jahre 1977.

·         1978 Trompetenstunden bei Jazzlegende Jabbo Smith in New Orleans.

·         Auftritt mit Louis Keppard und Preston Jackson, ebenfalls in New Orleans.

·         Der 17-jährige Colin und der 92 Louis Keppard unterhalten sich in einem Interview über die Buddy Bolden Ära.

·         Dawson ist zu hören auf dem Soundtrack zur Fernsehserie „Young Indiana Jones“ und im Fernsehfilm „Drei Schwestern – Made In Germany“ (Musik: Klaus Doldinger)

·         Von 1983-88 leitet Colin Dawson die „Onward Jazz Band“. Seit 1987 Mitgliedschaft bei „Alexander’s Swingtime Band“ und seit 1988 bei der „Allotria Jazz Band“. Seit 2000 leitet Colin Dawson, das 8-köpfige „Echoes Of Swing Orchestra“

·         Colin T. Dawson nahm im Laufe seiner Karriere mehr als 50 LPs und CDs auf und hatte in mehr als 35 Ländern weltweit Auftritte

•          Interview and performance with Louis Keppard and Preston Jackson, New Orleans 1978. Dawson was 17, Louis Keppard (brother of Freddie) was 92. In the interview, Mr. Keppard talks about the Buddy Bolden period in New Orleans. The recording has recently been digitally re-mastered.
