>It was a lucky break for jazz music when Englishman Colin Dawson and Munich-born Bernd Lhotzky got together in a trumpet and piano duo. On the one hand, an internationally experienced ace trumpeter with a classical education and wide expressive range running the gamut from virtuoso lyricism to powerful soloing in a straight-ahead oldtime format. On the other hand, an academically-trained pianist renowned the world over for his competence in an enormously sophisticated style that was started in 1920's and 30's New York by Fats Waller and other greats: the Harlem stride piano. Bernd Lhotzky's rapidly mounting popularity as a "stride genius" is witnessed by the fact that he can already be heard on no fewer than seven CD's!
